What is Valentine’s Dessert Charcuterie Board?

A Charcuterie Board is a selection of appetizers artfully arranged on a board, typically featuring cured meats like salami and prosciutto, cheeses, dried fruits, nuts, crackers, fruit preserves, and various dipping sauces. It’s not only easy and quick to prepare but also visually alluring with minimal effort.

I love preparing Charcuterie Boards for holidays and special gatherings with family and friends. It’s a convenient option that can be prepared ahead of guests’ arrival.

With the Valentine’s Day season approaching, I’m excited to introduce a dessert spread board brimming with healthier candies and fruits, a delightful holiday dessert spread to share with your partner, girlfriends, or even your kids!

Since this board has no meat, it technically doesn’t fit the classic definition of a “charcuterie” board. Instead, it’s enchanted with a sweet spell, making it perfect for a special holiday dinner party with your sweetheart! You know that feeling when we’re falling in love, the world looks brighter, and the water tastes sweeter. That’s the kind of magic we’ll cast on this recipe, only it’s an edible form, and you don’t even have to be in love to make and enjoy it!

What’s on the Valentine’s Day Dessert Charcuterie Board

In this board, I collected all the plant-based goodies on this board and I’d love to share my favorites! But this dessert spread is where your creative mind frees its spirit, so use your favorite go-to candies or Valentine’s Day treats. Especially around the Valentine’s season, you’ll see all the pink and white candies at the grocery store. They’re a perfect addition to this board.

My guideline here is to pick up the items from the following categories: cookies, chocolate, fruits, and sweet charcuterie board dips.

Valentine’s Day Cookies

Valentine’s Day cookies are a must-have! I used my 2-ingredients Marshmallow Flower Cookies recipe, which are easy to make and look cute on the board.

Also, I added Oreo-style sandwich cookies for my chocolaty cookie item. I used the classic cream cookies from Back to Nature(plant-based). Simple Mills Cocoa Cashew Crème Sandwich Cookies are also a great choice if you like gluten-free, vegan, healthy snacks.

Chocolate Dessert

Valentine’s chocolate is essential for this holiday board. I used my Vegan Chocolate Salami recipe because it’s easily made ahead and so good!

Sweet Charcuterie Board Dips

It’s really nice to have a creamy element on the board, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. I prepared two bowls of dips: Hazelnut cacao spread and yogurt.

Hazelnut cacao spread is Nutella-style hazelnut butter mixed with cacao. Strawberries dipped in hazelnut cacao spread is so good! I used Hazelnut Cacao Spread from Artisana Naturals and top it off with chopped hazelnuts for decoration.

Yogurt is also an easy healthy dip that pairs well with dessert and fruit. Use vanilla flavor for a sweet dip or plain if you like tangy flavor and keep it healthy as possible. Regular or Greek yogurt both works or use coconut yogurt to make this board entirely plant-based. I topped it with crushed freeze-dried strawberries for the garnish.

Fruits

Let’s add something sweet and tangy to the board. It not only works as a palate cleanser but also provides fiber and vitamins! I used ref fruits, strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. But any fruits you like work wonderfully, bananas, oranges, apples, pears, and blueberries to name a few.

How to Make Dessert Charcuterie Board

First and foremost, pick out your board! I use a heart-shaped light pink marble board I got from Anthropologie. Isn’t it so Valentine’s Day?

Also if you have, heart-shaped or pink bowls would be perfect for the holiday for love theme.

Pink marble heart shaped board(called Amour Marble Cheese Board) I got from Anthropologie is placed on the worksurface.

Then let’s start building the board with bigger, chunkier items. For this board, I start with Marshmallow Flower Cookies!

Next, fill the small bowls with Hazelnut cacao spread and yogurt for dipping. And they go on to the board. I try to evenly distribute the chunky items.

Bowls of charcuterie board dips are added to the board.

Then, we move on to the slightly less chunky items. Here I line up the slices of my Vegan Chocolate Salami.

Slices of the chocolate salami are added to the board.

Finally, fill in the gaps by adding barriers, cherries, and the rest of the cookies!

Now, your Valentine’s Day board is ready to entertain! Serve with juice, milk, a cocktail, or glasses of rosé!

What else can I add to the Valentine’s Charcuterie Board?

The Spell of Love is 100% customizable and can be tailored to your needs. Get creative and add your favorite charcuterie board items. Here are some ideas you can include.

  • Salami and Prosciutto – If you’re serving this for a savory lover, then charcuterie meat is the way to go.
  • Chocolate Truffles – Need healthy truffles? Try Sweet Potato Truffles!
  • Cheese – From the creamy triple cream cheese to the aged Gouda, the cheese adds a rich taste to the board.
  • Chocolate Covered Strawberries – The most Valentine-y dessert of all! Plus it’s easy to make.
  • Pretzels – Who doesn’t want yogurt-covered pretzels on Valentine’s Day?
  • Crackers – You can never have too much crispy element, and the crackers are amazing vessels on the charcuterie board. Imagine Hazelnut cacao spread on the cracker topped with raspberries, it’s just *a chef’s kiss*
  • Valentine candies, Macarons, Chex mix, Popcorn – Essentially anything your heart desires.
