- Blackberries: A lot of grocery stores sell 6oz containers of blackberries.
- Honey
- ½ lemon juice: freshly squeezed is the best!
What to serve compote for?
This 3-ingredient compote is ready quickly, so you can whip it up easily even on busy mornings. Serve with waffles, pancakes, toast, and yogurt. This is going to be your go-to breakfast item!
I served mine with frozen toaster waffles, honey roasted peanut butter, and fresh black berries!
Easy Homemade Blackberry Compote
Sweet and refreshing blackberry compote made with just 3 ingredients! Served with frozen waffles for easy and healthy brunch.
Ingredients
- 6 oz blackberries plus more for garnish
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- ½ Tbsp. lemon juice
- Toaster Waffles for serving(optional)
- Roasted Honey Peanut Butter for serving(optional)
- Honey for serving(optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the blackberries, honey, and lemon juice. Bring it to a boil over medium heat and simmer until soft and juicy, stirring and mashing the berries occasionally, for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool.
- If you're serving with waffles: Cook the waffles according to the package instructions and place them on a serving plate.
- Top the waffles with blackberry compote, peanut butter, honey, and blackberries.
