Hot Spiced Fruit Bake

Winter fruit, nuts, butter, and warm spices are baked together to create a simple and easy dessert that carries the holiday spirits.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 apples sliced
  • 1 pear sliced
  • 2 oranges sliced
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 1 cup grapes
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • 2 Tablespoons regular butter or vegan butter melted
  • 6 Tablespoons bourbon or regular maple syrup
  • cup pecans
  • cup hazelnuts
  • ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • Dash nutmeg
  • A pinch salt
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F.
  • In a large bowl toss together apples, pear, oranges, cranberries, grapes, and lemon juice. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together butter and maple syrup. Use a microwave or double boiler to melt them together if the butter is solid. Stir in cinnamon and nutmeg. Add pecans and hazelnuts.
  • Drizzle the spiced butter mixture over the fruit while reserving the nuts in the bowl. Toss the fruit well with the spiced maple butter. Transfer the fruit to a baking dish and scatter with the reserved nuts on top. Bake for 1 hour.
  • Divide into serving bowls. Serve with ice cream on top.
